Technical Lead - BI

Are you a talented and hands-on Technical Lead working in the financial services industry looking for a high profile and exciting role?

This role sits in our data systems team supporting the IT policy and markets systems section. As a Technical Lead you will provide specialised skills for the support and implementation of the Bank's BI technology solutions.

Your ability to work collaboratively, provide positive input to the team and ability to embrace the ideas of others will be key to your success.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Work with business stakeholders to identify their current and potential requirements.
  • Maintain and support the Bank's end-to-end ETL environments.
  • Plan and coordinate the testing of software upgrades and patches, design and maintain ETL jobs, schedules, monitoring and alerting components.
  • Support production systems by problem resolution and system enhancement.
  • Provide advice and technology solutions to support the Bank's business and enterprise architecture.
  • Analyse, design, develop, test and document technology solutions using agreed enterprise standards, processes and tools, to achieve a well-engineered result.
  • Create processes, security measures, standards and best practices aimed at enhancing the availability, security and performance of applications in Policy Departments.
  • Prepare realistic plans (including quality, risk and communications plans), assign tasks to other technical staff, and track activities against the project schedule, providing regular and accurate reports to stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Contribute to the selection of system architecture components.
  • Evaluate and undertake impact analysis on major design options and assess associated risks.
  • Ensure that the system design balances functional, service quality and systems management requirements.
  • Undertake relevant research including the evaluation of new software, tools and techniques ensuring fit to the Bank's enterprise architecture and standards.
  • Lead small development teams and coordinate the efforts of other groups. Provide advice, guidance and assistance to less experienced colleagues as required.
  • Oversee the adherence of development approaches and efforts of other technical staff to ensure the overall business and technical objectives are met.

To be successful you need to have the following:

  • Degree qualification relevant to the Bank/ IT industry
  • Mentoring and coaching team members
  • Advanced knowledge of IBM InfoSphere, including DataStage, IGC, Quality Stage, Information Analyzer for development and environment administration.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft BI technologies including SQL Server PDW, Power BI, SSRS, SSIS and SSAS.
  • Knowledge of data transformation techniques (ETL).
  • Knowledge in Networking and Windows server administration.
  • Advanced knowledge in Data Warehousing and data modelling concepts.
  • Advanced Knowledge of the Software Development Life Cycle.
  • Knowledge of security authentication and access control principles.
  • Extensive experience in data migration.
  • Experience in coordinating with product vendors and technical specialist engineers to resolve product issues/bugs/reoccurring issues.

You will be employed under a 24 month employment arrangement with scope to renew.
