The Portfolio Manager, FM Projects provides a unique opportunity to work at the heart of the RBA’s financial market operations where you will directly contribute to the delivery of the RBA’s key objectives.  The role offers the opportunity to develop a team of project management professionals and become involved in groups and initiatives where you can begin to shape the nature of project delivery across the enterprise.

The role is primarily responsible for directing the delivery of a portfolio of projects and change initiatives for the FM and Risk Management (RM) divisions. In this role you would be responsible for defining, documenting and maintaining the strategic roadmap for a suite of business applications ensuring that business requirements are met in a timely fashion. Additionally your day will consist of:

  • Manage a dedicated team providing project delivery services to FM and RM.
  • Supervise and develop staff to achieve their objectives. Provide leadership and foster a culture that promotes the Bank's values and core principles.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with a broad range of business and IT stakeholders to ensure priorities are understood, project outcomes are achieved and technology standards/policies are met.
  • Manage the resource and financial forecasting, tracking and reporting for project and change related activities. Work closely with IT resource managers to ensure business needs are met in an efficient and effective manner.
  • Develop, implement and enhance the project management, business analysis and testing framework. Act as a central reference point and provide guidance on the project management process.
  • Prepare and/or oversee the preparation of key project documentation such as project briefs, business cases, project plans, test strategies and status reports.
  • Oversee the implementation of project and change initiatives ensuring the quality and integrity of systems is maintained.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications and/or relevant experience in Project Management.
  • Experience in simultaneously delivering multiple project/programs and change initiatives related to critical systems.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Previous experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, motivating and supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and the steps involved in co-ordinating and delivering a portfolio of projects simultaneously as well as experience in managing the financial and resource components of a portfolio of projects.
  • A Project Management certification ideally PRINCE II/PMBOK or Agile is also essential.

The following experience would be beneficial to your success:

  • Establishing a PMO function/project delivery frameworks.
  • Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle and an understanding of the solution design and technology selection process.
  • An understanding of financial markets specifically fixed income and foreign exchange.
  • Previous experience delivering large scale software and infrastructure projects.
