IT Operator

The Reserve Bank of Australia pursues national economic policy objectives and undertakes a range of associated activities in financial markets and banking. It also issues Australia's banknotes and operates infrastructure critical to the payments system. Those who are involved in the activities of the Bank have an important role to play in achieving these objectives, whether directly or in a supporting role.

Business Unit:

This role is part of the Corporate Services Group, Information Technology Department.

Corporate Services Group is responsible for effective provision of IT function in supporting the Bank's operations and managing the Bank's properties, security and facility services.

Information Technology Department - responsible for transforming and developing the core IT functions that support the Reserve Bank's policy, operational and corporate objectives.


Monitor systems and services in line with predefined operational controls, processes and requirements, responding to system requests and messages, while monitoring IT incidents across operating system, network and application environments.

This role is performed on a rostered 4 day shift schedule on a 24 hour basis from Sydney CBD and on occasion Bella Vista locations. Generous loading and overtime is payable.


  • Working knowledge of enterprise systems management, configuring and modifying infrastructure objects and alerting thresholds across both Windows and Linux environments.
  • Experience in proactive monitoring of the network and systems devices
  • Ensure that all process and procedures are followed to the highest professional levels
  • Understanding of TCP/IP and CISCO networking.
  • Monitoring system schedules to ensure all process are meeting deadlines for completion
  • Knowledge of establishing, modifying and deploying Tidal automation jobs.
  • Understanding of backup technologies.
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN environments and technologies.
  • Experience in configuring Application Performance Monitoring alerting thresholds. 
  • Resolving client technical support issues


  • You will pride yourself on your ability to use your communication skills to build and maintain relationships with stakeholders 
  • History of completing tasks with minimal supervision. Experience in implementing process improvements.
  • Sound experience working within a service orientated and risk adverse environment.
  • Experience working in and supporting financial environments.
  • Graduate or Diploma qualifications relevant to the Bank or IT industry, or currently working towards.
  • ITIL Foundation certification.
