Manager Security Operations

The Reserve Bank of Australia pursues national economic policy objectives and undertakes a range of associated activities in financial markets and banking. It also issues Australia's banknotes and operates infrastructure critical to the payments system. Our property portfolio is complex, as the Bank provides a wide range of functions and services, many within the same property, including office accommodation, financial trading, banking services and the manufacturing, storage and distribution of banknotes.  The Bank also has technology data centres, a disaster recovery and business resumption site and training and conferencing facilities.

The Workplace Department has the responsibility to provide and maintain those properties and related services, including the provision to a high standard of physical infrastructure and security services.

The role of Manager Security Operations manages the delivery, maintenance and testing of physical security and emergency control services and across all of our sites nationally.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Developing physical security, emergency response, incident management and workplace business continuity strategies, policies, and priorities.
  • Developing and overseeing the delivering of security awareness and emergency response training programs.
  • Managing the national security guarding services contract, including oversight of service delivery.
  • Overseeing procurement processes associated with the periodic market testing of security guarding services.
  • Planning, coordinating and managing major security projects, in conjunction with Manager, Security Engineering.
  • Managing the integration of security and emergency control arrangements with WP and Bank contingency plans.
  • Performing administrative and management tasks as required including reporting, benchmarking, and liaison with Bank departments, external agencies and industry
  • Developing and overseeing the Section’s operating and capital budget.
  • Managing the physical and psychological health and safety risks in the workplace.

To be successful in this role you’ll need:

  • Significant operational experience in security and incident management
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in physical security or security risk management
  • Experience in contract administration
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs, process improvement and emergency procedure planning
  • Ability to liaise, network, and gather security intelligence with relevant industry and Government bodies (including finance sector, police, critical infrastructure stakeholders and emergency services)
