The Reserve Bank of Australia’s Note Issue Department is responsible for research into and development of new banknote designs and security features, and the supply of good quality banknotes to meet the community's demand. Our Banknote Production team is responsible for ensuring that banknotes are produced to a high quality standard.

The RBA is seeking an experienced Analyst to carry out a variety of research and data analysis projects related to banknote quality and security to contribute to the RBA’s strategy on banknote security. You’ll have the opportunity to work on projects that have a direct, positive impact on a critical part of Australia’s economic and financial system.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Undertake research projects on banknote quality, product development and product improvement
• Contribute and lead technical projects to further develop and better understand the banknotes and their components
• Report on banknote characteristics and manage quality observation and issues management processes
• Manage legal risks related to matters such as confidentiality, intellectual property, copyright and moral rights.
• Contribute to the strategic objectives of the department either individually or as part of a collaborative working group.

About you:

• A degree in science, engineering, statistics, mathematics or economics (or a related discipline)
• Professional experience in data analysis, project management, and a knowledge of quality management
• Demonstrate strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Experience in professional and/or academic research (such as an honours degree)
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate and communicate effectively and professionally, both in writing and orally, are key focus areas

This role requires a high level of security clearance. To be eligible to obtain a security clearance Australian citizenship is required.
