We are currently looking for a Senior Developer to join the Currency Systems, Information Technology team at the Reserve Bank of Australia. The Currency Systems team supports the Bank’s Note Issue Department on all technical aspects ranging from business systems support and maintenance, software development for major enhancements, business engagement, and technology strategy.

 

The Information Technology Department is responsible for transforming and developing the core IT functions that support the Reserve Bank’s policy, operational and corporate objectives.

 

As part of the team you will:

 

  • Provide development services utilising advanced Java/J2EE and SQL database skills.
  • Engage and consult with the business, working collaboratively with business and IT Shared Services stakeholders to refine business requirements and deliver services that meet business needs.
  • Develop and enhance interfaces to vendor systems for specialised business solutions, such as the automated robotics enabled warehouse management systems, operated by the Note Issue business
  • Coordinate with IT Shared Services to improve operational efficiencies for the business and expediting service request fulfilment.
  • Work with Enterprise Architecture and IT Security teams for technology selection, IT standards, security policy and compliance and implementation of the business technology roadmap.

     

The successful applicant will have the following skills and capability:

 

  • Advanced Java/J2EE development skills and XML related standards and technologies
  • Strong skills in application server configuration, deployment and management up to and including production environments, e.g. TcServer
  • Strong working knowledge of the Spring framework including working knowledge of Spring Security
  • Strong experience in the identification/breakdown of components and tasks, as well as sound task estimation skills.
  • Strong database design and programming skills (JDBC, SQL, stored procedures)
  • Strong communication and inter-personal skills with proven ability to engage business stakeholders to achieve target outcomes.

     

You will be a self-starter with good self-management and ability to prioritise. Prior experience working with secure information will be regarded.
