Emerging Technology Developer, Innovation Lab

  • This role is offered on an 18 month fixed term contract

 

We are currently looking for an Emerging Technology Developer to join the core team within the newly launched Innovation Lab at RBA. The role of the Lab is to support the Bank’s exploration of emerging technologies in both policy and operational areas, through the use of new ways of working.

 

This role will develop POCs and prototypes in new and emerging technologies, through initiatives structured as experiments. The role will have you wearing varying hats, whether it be a software developer, a junior economist, a data enthusiast or an architect.

 

As part of the team you will:

 

  • Develop POCs and prototypes in new and emerging technologies, whilst learning new technologies as required to support experiments
  • Provide technical insight and direction in the definition of a departmental experiment
  • Direct teams of developers if required
  • Analyse and evaluate vendors and products in the market
  • Strengthen Bank’s capability in current development methods and techniques
  • Conduct and support information-sharing sessions within the Bank

     

The successful applicant will have the following skills and capability:

 

  • Working knowledge of a varied stack of newer technologies, for example Java, C#, .Net, Ruby, Python or Javascript; front-end frameworks including React or Angular
  • Fundamentals of data analytics, cryptography, system architecture and test driven development
  • Cloud services such as Azure and AWS
  • Prototyping
  • Working as a developer on formal projects
  • Working as part of an agile team
  • A relevant tertiary degree
  • An understanding of economics and or finance is desirable as it is applicable to the types of projects that will be worked on

     

Prior experience working with secure information will be regarded.
