This role is in the Reserve Bank’s Media & Communications team.

You will contribute to the efficient day-to-day running of the Media and Communications Department.  You will be responsible for the execution of internal communications programs, handle public enquiries and media lock ups, as well as monitor press and social media.

As part of the team you will:

  • Contribute to the core functions of the Media & Communications team.
  • Deliver internal communications content, which includes assisting with advice and implementation of communication plans for Bank departments.
  • Contribute to video production activities.
  • Help manage public and media enquiries.
  • Assist with monitoring media and social media commentary of relevance to the Bank.
  • Contribute to the organisation of media lock-ups and deed poll arrangements.
  • Support the Section's management of information.

To be considered for this role you will have

  • Experience in public relations or internal communications, ideally having worked in or with the financial services industry or public service
  • Familiarity with digital (including video) content production
  • Experience working with social media platforms and tools
  • You will be resilient, organised and have demonstrated strong practical judgement, particularly in managing complex, sensitive and confidential media and public enquiries
  • Ability to understand the essence of current policy issues as they are discussed in the media
  • Strong written and oral communications skills with a focus on accuracy and timeliness
  • The ability to cultivate constructive professional relationships

Tertiary qualifications in communications, media studies, or similar related field is desired as is a understanding of the RBA’s functions.
