Solution Architect – System Refresh Project

  • Join RBA’s IT department working on a system refresh project
  • Supportive flexible work arrangements available
  • 18 months full time, fixed term contract  

In this role we require a Solution Architect to define the solution architecture and design for an infrastructure refresh and consolidation of the Bank’s Managed File Transfer systems (which are based on IBM Sterling B2B Integrator) and associated application components (including a custom Java application), including re-platforming and network migration of mission critical Bank systems.

As part of the team you will:

  • Select appropriate solution design standards, methods and tools, in line with the IT architecture policy and strategy. Review existing system designs to ensure a selection of technology, best-practice, and solution architecture techniques are applied effectively.
  • Apply high-availability design principles and patterns in architecture designs.
  • Work with analysts in refining business requirements, and work with subject matter experts (such as infrastructure leads, architects, operators, developers, and business experts) to develop high level designs, in line with the enterprise architecture, patterns and practices. This may occasionally extend to assist with detailed design work.
  • Contribute to the solution architecture practice at the Bank, including maintenance of a central knowledge repository for design models, development standards, tips and techniques for tools, building components, and solution architectures.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders in scoping initiatives, ensuring they are scoped in accordance with architectural objectives and principles. 

The successful applicant will have the following skills and capability:

  • Senior solution architect experience across a range of complex solutions and project environments.
  • Advanced knowledge of solution architecture and design for integration solutions including managed file transfer and API technologies.
  • Systems integration experience in complex technical environments involving transaction processing, web delivery, message integration and data warehousing components.
  • Broad experience in solution architecture design, systems analysis, software development, infrastructure, integration, network and data security.
  • Skills and experience collaborating with business and technical stakeholders to ensure that the solution is scoped in accordance with business and architectural objectives.

A degree qualification relevant to the Bank or IT industry is required as well as IT accreditations or certifications (such as cloud, integration), TOGAF preferred or currently working towards.
