Senior Security Engineer

Design, deliver, and maintain physical security systems in New South Wales and Canberra in consultation with key service providers.

The Reserve Bank of Australia pursues national economic policy objectives and undertakes a range of associated activities in financial markets and banking. It also operates infrastructure critical to the payments system and issues Australia's banknotes.

The Bank’s property portfolio is complex, as the Bank requires a wide range of functions and services. Our properties include a commercial high rise building, business resumption site, banknote production, storage and distribution centre, training facility and several small leased premises. Security measures on these sites range from large commercial to high security arrangements that are unique in Australia.

Workplace Department is responsible for the management and maintenance of the owned and leased premises within Australia. The department delivers these services by providing physical security along with property and engineering management, project management and procurement. Physical security includes guarding, security technology, barriers, policies and procedures, and liaison with emergency services and other government and commercial agencies.

The role of Senior Security Engineer has been created to design, deliver and maintain security technology (alarm and access control, CCTV, door control, intercom and IT networking systems) and bespoke high security pedestrian and vehicle doors in consultation with external service providers in New South Wales, Canberra and leased premises in other states.

As part of the team you will:

  • Monitor performance and perform maintenance on security and electrical control systems, hardware and software to ensure its adequacy, efficiency and integrity.
  • Provide expert security engineering advice and services for the Bank's operations and facilities.
  • Identify and specify security requirements, including contract briefs, options analysis and feasibility studies for security systems and facilities.
  • Coordinate and oversee non-Bank professional services providers and contractors to ensure a high standard of work performed (quality, cost-effectiveness and security).
  • Assist with the on-call roster for fault rectification and liaison with maintenance contractors.

Skills and Experience

The successful applicant will:

  • Have extensive experience in contract administration and managing relationships with third-party service providers.
  • Hold formal qualifications in a field related to physical security systems as well as relevant tertiary qualifications in either electronics, IT, electrical/communications engineering or equivalent.
  • Have a demonstrated commitment to ongoing continuous improvement processes
  • Possess strong customer service skills, communication, interpersonal and facilitation skills
  • Hold a current valid NSW Security Licence - Security Adviser and Security Equipment Installer.
  • Have considerable knowledge of computer networks and infrastructure for alarm and access control and CCTV systems.

This role requires applicants to seek an Australian Government security clearance that will be sponsored by the Bank. To be eligible to obtain a security clearance, Australian citizenship is required.
