Data Analyst – Economic Analysis Department, RBA

Your team

This role is part of the Economic Group, Economic Analysis department. Economic Group is responsible for analysis of economic trends, forecasting and research relevant to the framing of monetary policy. Our department monitors and forecasts trends in the international and domestic economies, provides regular advice on these developments and monetary policy to the Governors and the Board, contributes to various external bodies, maintains contacts with relevant analysts and institutions, undertakes applied research and prepares reports for publication.


Do work that makes a difference

Working as part of a data management team in the Reserve Bank of Australia’s Economic Group you will transform and visualise data and process statistical output using the latest technology. Working in highly collaborative team environment you will produce data visualisations, statistical tables and reports for RBA monetary policy publications. On top of that you will update data in the various data repositories (databases and spreadsheets) in a timely and accurate manner. You will also work with our economists to streamline, automate and improve current data management procedures.

Your background

The successful applicant may be working towards or have completed a degree in data science, statistics, computer science, mathematics or a related field. On top of that high attention to detail and ability to perform under pressure are essential.

This vacancy requires experience in using statistical programming (such as R or Python) and Excel, along with demonstrated analytical/problem solving skills. Experience in statistical concepts, computer science and/or data management would be highly regarded.
