Senior Business/Data Analyst – Regulatory Reporting and Analytics Project

Do work that makes a difference. This is an opportunity to work on a key project at the Reserve Bank of Australia, delivering a new data collection and analytics system that will be core to the Bank’s regulatory surveillance, insights and reporting. 

We are looking for a delivery-oriented Senior Business/Data Analyst with a strong data and analytics, business process improvement and regulatory focus. As part of an agile project team, you will undertake business data analysis for the development and implementation of an efficient and secure regulatory data collection and analytics system for data submitted by various reporting Financial Markets Infrastructures.

You will also:

  • Work in a cross-functional team environment with economists, external reporting entities, Enterprise Data Office and IT program professionals to deliver a data collection, analytics and reporting system which is critical to the Bank’s work
  • Create a shared understanding of the end-to-end requirements for the platform and help shape and deliver the solution according to the business’ priorities
  • Create high quality user stories and supporting documentation that the team needs to deliver a highly performant solution 
  • Help the team to achieve sprint goals by testing the new and enhanced systems
  • Deliver the business improvement changes into the business teams and support their self-service adoption of new cutting edge analytical tools and capabilities

As this a project role, there may be a requirement to work overtime if a deadline needs to be met.

Your team

This project supports the Bank’s Payments Policy department that supervise financial market infrastructures licensed to provide services in Australia. Their services are critical to the smooth functioning of financial markets, and the RBA plays a role in ensuring that they are operated in a way that promotes financial stability. You will work with a cross-functional team of specialists who are very passionate about data and you will be part of this agile project team acting as the business SME.

Your background

We are looking for a Senior Business/Data Analyst with a strong background in data analytics. You would have worked on data / compliance / regulatory projects.

  • Strong coding experience in R and hands-on experience with manipulating data with BI tools
  • Passion for data with data modelling and engineering skills to address complex data requirements
  • Extensive experience translating business data requirements into user stories
  • Ability to analyse and interpret business needs and processes for both a business and technical audience
  • Experience with data collection methods such as API, SFTP and Sterling File Gateway fundamentals
  • Experience with metadata management including business glossaries
  • Excellent communication, business partnering, time management, attention to detail, teamwork and collaboration skills
