In line with the Bank’s vision to be a world-leading central bank, Audit is similarly aspiring to deliver world class services to the Audit Committee and Executive team of this important Australian institution.  This completely redesigned role will have accountability for developing and implementing methodologies to provide assurance to the Executive Committee on the Bank’s wide range of strategic initiatives and project portfolio.  In addition you will design and implement a quality assurance improvement programme.  This QAIP is focussed on scanning for emerging global better practice in 3 Lines and determining how to implement this in the RBA. The other key aspects of this role are to build and maintain a high quality people experience for Audit so as to develop an energised and aspirational culture, and support the Head of Audit in developing and implementing its strategic plan.

As part of the team you will:

  • Develop and implement methodologies for auditing the Bank’s strategic initiatives and project portfolio and lead reviews of these.
  • Develop and implement an ongoing quality assurance and improvement (QAIP) program.
  • Cultivate and lead Audit’s people program including maintaining a resource plan to proactively match the expertise Audit requires and the Audit specific competency framework with emerging Bank risks.
  • Play a key role in developing and implementing Audit’s strategy (in consultation with HoD) including developing and monitoring relevant KPIs. Support the development and implementation of Audit's digital strategy and initiatives.
  • Manage internal and external relationships and collaborate effectively with key stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain a network of Central Bank and industry/Big 4 firm contacts to ensure Audit stays at the forefront of emerging IA and industry issues and practice.

You will join a dynamic leadership team that is a mix of promotions from within this high energy, high performance group, recent appointments from other parts of the Bank and new talent.  The Audit Committee and Executive Committee are committed to supporting Audit building out its new model.

Your background

 The successful applicant will have:

  • Membership of a professional auditing body (e.g. CA, PMIIA).
  • Experience leading, developing and motivating an audit unit and/or teams, as well as ownership of the execution of functional strategy.
  • Strong leadership skills partnered with the experience of coaching managers at a senior level within professional services, or the banking and finance industry.
  • Understanding of Bank-wide (or similar organisation) and area-specific policies and processes, and experience in the provision of policy advice, as well as the ability to influence others to accept practices and approaches.
  • Advanced knowledge and experience in internal or external auditing underpinned by data analytics within the banking and financial services sector/global professional services firm delivering outsourced internal audit services
