Assist the Bank's communication with the public through a range of administrative and support functions within this exciting role!

As the Communications Assistant you will help achieve the Bank’s goals through support for the Communications Division in its execution of effective communication programs. You will ensure that switchboard services for Head Office are courteous and efficient and support the management of public and media enquiries.

Other main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Support the public appearance program by arranging audio/video contractors, maintaining the key events calendar and updating website content.
  • Assist in the distribution of Bank publications, including maintaining distribution lists and managing pre-embargo arrangements.
  • Provide administrative support to the Media and Communications team, including processing invoices, maintaining team calendars, and managing meeting room bookings, functions, stationary and supplies and catering.

Your team

Your role will sit within the Secretary’s Department. This department provides secretariat and coordination services and advice on governance matters for the Governors, the Reserve Bank Board and its Audit and Remuneration Committees, the Payments System Board, and the Bank's Executive Committee.

The Communications Division within Secretary's Department is responsible for the communications function for the Reserve Bank. This includes providing advice on and execution of external and Bank-wide internal communication programs. The Division manages media relationships, responses to public enquiries and public appearances, and publishes Reserve Bank information and maintains the Bank's websites. Secretary's Department also provides legal services to the Reserve Bank through the General Counsel, coordinates a range of contacts with Government, the Parliament, other central banks and international organisations, arranges programs for visitors and manages the Bank’s Freedom of Information obligations.

Your background

To be successful in this role you will have previous experience working as a front desk receptionist dealing with the public and have strong customer service and/or administrative skills. You will have demonstrated diary management abilities, Intermediate to Advanced MS Office skills and be detail oriented and organised. It is essential that you have excellent communication capabilities to be able to represent the Bank well in your interactions with the public and you are proactive in your approach. This role calls for someone who is outgoing and happy to help in all areas of administration to support the team and contribute to the overall success of the Communications Division.

A qualification in Business Administration or Communications and an interest in developing a career in communications is a bonus, but not essential.
