Infrastructure Platform Engineer

Do work that makes a difference

This project is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure Platform Engineer to use DevOps tools and practices to enable the automation of infrastructure operations and processes. This role sits within the Platform Engineering team in the Bank’s IT Infrastructure Services. As part of the role you will be working closely with the Platform Engineering Team Lead and the business stakeholders to successfully automate the delivery of the virtual servers, appliances, application platforms, configuration management, firewalls, certificates, and patching. These roles are starting as a Fixed Term contract through June 2023.

The key aspect of this role will be to understand the current processes and components, and how they can be automated using the standard platforms and tools available in the Bank. As part of the role you will:

  • Manage the DevOps platforms supporting release management, infrastructure provisioning and lifecycle
  • Establish automation of certificate lifecycle management for infrastructure platforms
  • Advocate for the implementation and adoption of DevOps platforms, including cross-team collaboration
  • Design and develop on-premise blueprints, workflows, and configuration management in multiple technologies
  • Provide strong automation services in multiple development and scripting languages including Java, Puppet DSL, PowerShell, JavaScript, Python, and REST API
  • Take accountability for the JIRA project to align to the team Agile practices and ensure Sprints run smoothly and deadlines are met. Work with the team to create Epics, Stories, and Tasks that reflect the platform requirements.

You will work with a team of incredibly intelligent people, who are very passionate about automation and innovative ways of delivering infrastructure. The Platform Engineering team are a mix of engineers and developers. The wider project team comprises of SME’s from various areas of the Bank IT as well as business users and stakeholders. It is a challenging, fast paced, and team oriented environment with a great culture.

 

Your background

We are looking for someone with strong automation and development experience along with an infrastructure background. Preferably you will have the ability to conceptualise an infrastructure design and co-ordinate the tasks required for a team to implement the design.

To be successful in this critical role you will possess:

  • Experience delivering complex projects in an Agile way
  • Experience in automation/orchestration
  • An infrastructure background with exposure to Linux and Windows
  • Experience with enterprise automation tools (e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc)
  • Knowledge of CI/CD technologies (e.g. GitLab, AzureDevOps, etc)
  • Knowledge of standard software engineering practices (version control / git, SDLC)
