Cyber Security Automation Engineer

The Reserve Bank of Australia pursues national economic policy objectives and undertakes a range of associated activities in financial markets and banking. It also operates infrastructure critical to the payments system and issues Australia's banknotes.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in one of the best cyber security teams in Australia. This role sits within the Cyber Security Delivery team in the Bank’s IT security services.  As part of the role you will be working closely with a wide variety of stakeholders and technical teams to ensure effective security controls are implemented and supported by the Banks information systems and networks

 

As part of this role you will:

  • Research, identify and implement potential configurations or development artefacts to meet our cyber security requirements.
  • Ability to identify gaps and automate compliance checks to ensure they meet security standards.
  • Work closely with teams to assist with security compliance initiatives and implementing robust security practice.
  • Lead and drive the engineering function for the SOC team; providing training, operational handover and ongoing enhancements/on-boarding for new and existing tooling.
  • Work with SOC team to identify and implement detection enhancements within the SIEM platform to ensure high fidelity alerts to the SOC team 

 

Your team

You will work with a team of incredibly smart people, who are very passionate about security. The security team consists of approximately 25 people with diverse skillsets. It is a challenging, fast paced, and team oriented environment with a great culture. 

 

Your background

To be successful in this critical role you will possess:

  • Hands-on Experience scripting languages like Ansible, JSON, Python.
  • Knowledge of information security principles and practices, and industry standards such as ASD's Essential Eight, and ISM
  • Solid understanding working with, deploying and managing security incident detection and response tools including SIEM/SOAR and XDR technologies in a hybrid cloud environment.
  • Ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and explain risk in a business context
