Head of IT Delivery Portfolio

In this leadership role you will mature an existing IT Portfolio Management function within IT. In this 5 Year max term contract, The Head of IT Portfolio Management is responsible for the effective operation, delivery and reporting of all IT led and Business enabled projects (requiring IT capability) for the Bank. This is a strategic position that works closely with the Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) in Finance to ensure governance, excellence in program delivery and quality of the overall portfolio of all IT programs. You will also:

 

  • Define the strategy and lead the design and implementation of common project management methods, tools and processes
  • Lead the development of governance reporting and the assurance framework
  • Develop plans and budgets as required to effectively manage the IT Portfolio of projects on a year to year basis
  • Maintain research into best practice for IT Portfolio Management to enable the continuous improvement of the function
  • Review all business cases, ideation documents, value plans, and other artefacts required to orchestrate the Portfolio Management
  • Manage the engagement & performance of the team
  • Deliver IT commitments & service excellence
  • Deliver a secure & stable IT environment
  • Manage technology risks effectively
  • Embed a culture of innovation & continuous Improvement and drive IT simplification
  • Provide high quality performance data on the qualitative and quantitative performance of the IT Portfolio planning areas

 

Your team

You will lead a highly collaborative, diverse team with a great supportive culture. This role has 5-8 direct reports and you will lead a wider team of over 40 people within the IT Portfolio Management and Currency.

Your background

We are looking for someone with great people and leadership skills who is passionate about being at the forefront of change and innovation with the aim of realising a function that is seen as world class by our senior business stakeholders. You will maintain an industry leading approach to the development and operation of IT Portfolio Management and continuously improve this capability through techniques such as research, performance reviews, establishing standards, acquiring and implementing tools and metrics, and disciplined processes that are industry standard and best practice.

 

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • Extensive experience at a senior level in leading a Portfolio Management and/or PMO function that delivers business outcomes in a complex organisation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Ability to respond to challenging stakeholders with thoughtful and articulate propositions and solutions to complex business problems.
  • Experience in developing detailed and often complex ad-hoc reports, including the effective reporting of all critical programs on a regular basis.
  • Demonstrable experience in IT leadership and building a high performing team and function.
  • Proven experience in the successful management of IT projects and personnel preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Demonstrable track record in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with business stakeholders at various levels.
