An exciting opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer to join a great team on a long term, Fixed-Term contract through October 2022. The main purpose of the role is to manage and oversee the Bank's software defined infrastructures including network, firewall and F5 application delivery. You will provide expert services in relation to network infrastructures and you will plan, design, test and implement the Bank's network infrastructures, including network, firewall, Telephony and F5 application delivery.

This role requires significant physical activity, involving stretching, bending and lifting. You must also be willing to travel if need be. This position is based at Head Office, Sydney although the incumbent may be required to regularly work from other locations, for example in response to a contingency at Head Office or to relieve BRS staff. There is potential for on-call or shift support outside normal business hours and you may be required to work irregular hours, including weekends and public holidays with minimal notice and be contactable out of business hours for problem resolution


Your team

This role is part of the Corporate Services Group, Information Technology Department. The Corporate Services Group is responsible for the effective provision of information technology, workplace (asset management, facilities management, building security, and procurement) and data management services to support the delivery of the Bank’s policy, operational and corporate objectives. Information Technology Department - responsible for transforming and developing the core IT functions that support the Reserve Bank's policy, operational and corporate objectives.


Your background

To be successful in this critical role you will have the following capabilities:

  • Functional understanding of communications infrastructure (Cisco, F5).
  • Functional understanding of networking systems and software covering both Local Area Networks (LANs) and WideArea Networks (WANs).
  • Functional understanding of data, storage and voice communications systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in installing, configuring and maintaining infrastructure equipment.
  • Developing knowledge of load testing and performance monitoring systems.
  • Experience with configuring and supporting Security infrastructure.
  • Developing understanding of revision control / configuration management systems.
  • Experience in the support of communications (data/voice) infrastructure.
  • Experience in writing standards/procedures and other support documentation.
  • Experience contributing to a range of IT projects.
  • Demonstrated ability in maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience in Corporate Telephony systems, including Mitel.
