Do work that makes a difference

In this exciting role you will have the opportunity to provide economics and/or finance-based analytical support to the Bank’s central banking functions and objectives. You will provide advice and undertake research, analysis, implementation, monitoring, documentation and communication in relation to issues of relevance to Financial Markets, focusing on securities markets.

Other duties will include:

  • Undertake and use analysis and research in support of the Bank’s central banking functions and objectives.
  • Use appropriate methods (e.g.written, verbal, visual, etc.) to effectively communicate analysis and research to relevant internal and external decision-makers, stakeholders and other audiences in support of the Bank’s functions and objectives.
  • Contribute to development and implementation of recommendations, guidelines, standards, policies, procedures or operations to support the Bank’s functions and objectives.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders to support and enhance analysis.
  • Develop, maintain and extend sources of information to support and enhance analysis.

Your team

This role is part of the Financial Markets Group, Domestic Markets Department. Financial Markets Group is responsible for implementing the Reserve Bank’s operations in domestic and foreign exchange markets, monitoring and analysing developments in financial markets and co-ordinating the Reserve Bank’s relationship with international institutions. Domestic Markets Department is responsible for the Reserve Bank's operations in the domestic money and bond markets. The Department also analyses developments in domestic financial markets, including the cost and availability of finance through financial intermediaries and capital markets, and provides regular advice to the Governors and the Board on these issues.

Your background

To be successful in this critical role you will possess;

  • Economics/Finance or related degree, preferably a strong honours degree
  • Familiarity with theoretical issues relevant to financial markets, particularly securities markets
  • Experience using the programming language R is highly regarded
