IT Systems Team Lead (Maintenance)

This role will be part of our Infrastructure Services group where you will be leading a team of expert System Services engineers to deliver for multiple projects and initiatives that contribute to on-going enterprise Infrastructure operational outcomes.  As Team Lead you bring your technical expertise but the focus is in on growing and developing your people management, commercial and business skills.

As Team Lead you will:

  • Empower your team of experts to build a cohesive and customer service focused team that uses agile work practices to provide highly available operationally ready infrastructure services.
  • Work to infuse your team with the skills and behaviours needed to deliver to the standard required in a high availability and reliability organisation.
  • Build your teams technical skills in infrastructure as code, orchestration and cloud to focus on continual service improvement.
  • Embrace moving from technical team expert towards infrastructure management and people leadership without losing your infrastructure technical roots.
  • Participate in proof of concepts for emerging technologies that align to business objectives, such as Kubernetes in the Cloud.
  • People management, contract management, vendor management, recruitment are all areas where will grow and develop your management experience.
  • Be prepared for a future where you train as Scrum Master and work towards a DevOps by experimenting with cross functional infrastructure project delivery squads

Your background:

To be successful in the role you will have expert understanding of server operating systems, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Microsoft Server along with understanding of Microsoft Active Directory. You’ll also have exceptional experience providing technical leadership in the design, security hardening and support of server operating systems as well as Active Directory along with strong understanding of virtualisation technologies, in particular VMWare.  ITIL certified with a strong understanding of incident, problem, change and capacity management.

You will bring exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated experience in writing standards and procedures, support documentation and technically detailed design documentation. Technical operational experience, with previous people management is paramount for this role coupled with proven track record in coaching, mentoring and developing people.

Degree qualifications in IT or relevant discipline plus IT accreditations (such as Microsoft, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, VMware) maintained to current levels; or working towards within 6-12 months.
