Associate Data Analyst

Do work that makes a difference

This is a unique opportunity to join the RBA as an Associate Data Analyst. You will be joining the Economic Analytical and Technical Services team as part of the broader Economic Group that supports the monetary policy decision making process and other relevant policy responsibilities.

You and your team will contribute to the management of the group's data assets throughout their lifecycles, and visualise data using the bank’s proprietary application and other latest technologies. You will also provide data management service and develop data management technology solutions to support analysis and research relevant to the Bank's central banking policies, core functions and reporting obligations.

To be successful you will have familiarity and 1-2 years’ experience with programming (preferably R), common statistical packages, statistical and data management concepts, and used to collaborating and maintaining stakeholder relationships. You will also have skills in Data Visualisation, Power BI tools and be able to communicate both verbally and in writing in a clear and succinct manner. [ZJ1] 

Your responsibilities

  • Producing bank-standard graphs that are used in a range of RBA signature publications and developing analytical dashboards.
  • Assisting in the collection, collation, processing and loading of data in various data repositories in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Working with economists to streamline, automate and improve current data management procedures and workflows.
  • Interacting professionally within a highly collaborative team environment.

Your background

  • Have completed or are currently working towards a degree in data science, statistics, computer science, mathematics or a related field.
  • Have excellent attention to detail and the ability to perform under pressure.
  • Have experience in programming languages (ideally R, SQL or Python) and Excel.
  • Demonstrate analytical/problem solving skills.
