Payment and System Operations Officer

    Key purpose of the role Provision of system administration and operational support functions for an area’s business systems and processing of transactions on behalf of internal and external clients. This includes file management tools and system monitoring processes required to service the NPP, direct entry and collection services for government agencies across a number of banking systems.

    You’ll be involved in a variety of activities including:

    • Work closely with IT areas and various business stakeholders to plan and coordinate system changes or enhancements.
    • Assist with the planning, co-ordination, testing and verification of system change.
    • Provide effective operational, administrative, first and second level customer support for business systems and issues.
    • Ensure that daily processing of files, transactions and other operational tasks are completed.
    • Provide business operations expertise and guidance to external and internal customers in relation to business processes.
    • Conduct regular reviews of business operations to ensure operational controls are efficient and remain relevant.
    • Monitor systems and liaise with stakeholders to facilitate early detection and resolution of issues.
    • Ensure that activities comply with industry regulations and manage fraud and risk consistent with the Bank’s policies.

    Your background

    • Knowledge of operational banking activities and related banking systems including support infrastructure.
    • Knowledge of the operational arrangements for NPP, direct entry payment exchanges and interbank settlement.
    • Sound knowledge of IT is preferable.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of the team and contribute to the wider Banking Department.
    • Adaptive, highly responsive, diligent and organised.
    • An ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders.
    • Willingness to participate in Shift Roster ad hoc to cover vacancies.

    Your team

    Our Banking Department provides a range of banking services to Australian Government departments and other government instrumentalities as well as a number of overseas central banks and official institutions.

    The section is responsible for managing domestic payment and collection services provided internal and external clients.
